Sterling has been making music for over twenty years, his career started way back in the early eighty's when he was the lead singer of a fifteen piece band, (Limited Funk) playing funk live at the local pubs, and clubs.

Within three years, he had his first deal with a small Indie label (commercial music), where he also recorded and released his first album, entitled ‘New Day’; Sterling has also carried out ‘voice overs’ for television commercials.

By the 1990s Sterling had started his own production company ‘Size Ten studio‘ and was putting out some of the best underground hip-hop around London at the time. The ability to sing as well as rap helped Sterling to perfect his own technique, and before long Size Ten were blowing up on the live seen, doing gigs up and down the UK. In 1993 he formed part of a four man team consisting of two rappers, Sterling and Ray-Ray and two producers (Richard Marcangleo & Davie Boyle) to form street beat U.K. which in turn led to a major recording deal with Polydor (Urban Label)), and this led to Sterling’s first major release ‘From Be-Bop to Hip-Hop’, which spent six weeks at number one on Choice FM, and came into the national charts at ninety-six. Though not a major success, it was enough to fuel the desire to continue, which subsequently resulted in further releases eg ‘Hard Work‘ and ‘Do What You Got‘. The success of Street Beat U.K. helped to fund Size Ten productions, which was very much still alive and doing well in its own right, as leading to a collaboration with singing Diva, Sybil, on the Bill Withers cover of ‘Lovely Day‘ (Producer: Mike Burnett of DeF-Jam records); this reached number one in the German charts.

Sterling also worked on a collaboration with Hawk and Wonder called ’Baby its You’, as well as appearing on TV in shows like the ’Hitman and Her’ and Normski’s show. In 1996 Sterling moved to Reading, which led to a collaboration with local producer ‘Mayhem‘, and also from Reading, vocalist Dionne Williams(U Can’t Stop). ‘U Can’t Stop’ was the track that set the bar for UK rap and is still talked about as well as played from time to time. the bar was raised even higher when Sterling and Ray-Ray formed Jail-Camp, and brought in talent from London and Reading. which led to the Jail camp party album. and shows like Womad, Bar Oz, Roxy, to name but a few.

Although Sterling started rapping a long time back he’s still doing it. It says a lot when you can be in this game and still be down. But it is understanding the needs of others that has made what he does so important; and this has been through growing up and living in Brixton, the real life experiences of urban living taught him about life and has influenced his music.

Currently, Sterling is producing tracks and selling beats all over the world right, and has rappers on his books in Canada, USA and Denmark. So he’s not short of projects at the moment. Being in Reading and seeing firsthand how hard it was for young artist in reading to get music done, made sterling set up his latest production company, STERLINGONPRODUCTION (aka: SOP). Sterling is currently working on a début album for his two sons, (known as NBA), as well as his own stuff. look out for Huyon Antone, rnb singer coming soon
